Our Courses
Omeida Chinese Academy offers flexible, interactive classes in standard Mandarin by certified, University qualified teachers. Classes are available to students at all levels from pure beginner through to proficient. The benefits of studying at Omeida include:
Flexible start dates
Start on any Monday
Comprehensive classes with an option to learn Chinese characters
Omeida’s Mandarin classes are comprehensive; they include speaking, listening, reading, grammar and writing pinyin. Learning to read and write Chinese characters is optional, please let us know your preference and we will place you with students who have the same goals as you.
Guaranteed classes
Once you have paid your deposit, your class is guaranteed to run. So you can book your flights and begin planning your trip to Yangshuo straight away!
Small class sizes
Omeida offers small classes of 2-6 students, providing an interactive and engaging learning environment and to maximise your speaking opportunities.
Interactive teaching methods
Our highly qualified teachers incorporate Western teaching methods and use resources including text books, videos, audio recordings, games to ensure your learning is accelerated. This varies from the focus on memorisation and repetition that other schools, especially those with larger class sizes may use.
Your choice of standard or intensive amount of classes
Depending on your goals, you can opt to take three or six 45 minute classes per day. The standard course is consists of three classes either in the morning 9-12noon or from 2-5pm and leaves you more time enjoy the surrounding countryside. If you chose the intensive course you will have classes in both the morning and afternoon to accelerate your learning.
Many class levels
You will be placed in a class with other students at a similar proficiency level across nine levels from beginner to proficient. Your teacher will then constantly evaluate your progress and may periodically move students if there is a more suitable class. Informal placement test are given prior to starting your course to ensure you are placed in the correct level. We will arrange your placement test at a convenient time for you, usually on the Sunday before your classes begin. View the different class levels here.
Optional extra tutoring
Omeida can organise a language partner so you can practise your Mandarin after class from 5:00-6:00pm weeknights. There is no extra cost for this. View a sample timetable
Many extracurricular activities
You can participate in free after school activities such as volleyball, basketball, ping pong and video nights.Every Thursday evening Omeida Language Academy organizes a social night for all students and teachers, which is a great way for you to practise your Mandarin. Activities include BBQs, cocktail nights, tongue twister competitions, quiz nights and singing competitions.
You can also opt to participate inthe weekly Saturday sightseeing outings which areorganized for students and teachers. Activities include rafting, drifting, cycling, hiking, swimming, kayaking, rock climbing, sight-seeing and trips to ancient villages.
