Mandarin Lessons: Prices and packages

Omeida Language School offers interactive Mandarin lessons to classes of 2-6 students. After school activities, weekly social nights, and cultural activities are included in your tuition fee to ensure you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Chinese culture and language. Your class is guaranteed to run once your deposit is received.

There are two options with the courses, the standard course which is 15 lessons per week which leaves you free time to enjoy the surrounding countryside, or the intensive course where you will have 30 lessons per week to accelerate your learning.

All inclusive packages

Most of our students enrol in our all inclusive package which includes Mandarin Lessons, single accommodation with ensuite and air conditioning, Chinese style meals on weekdays, social nights, cultural activities, an orientation of Yangshuo and more. What does the All Inclusive package include?

  • Accommodation. You’ll have a private room with ensuite, 24hr hot water, air-conditioning  and heating, internet access and free use of washing machine, within a 2-10 minute walk from school. If you would like to have a double room to share with a friend or partner, please let us know in advance, we can arrange this for a small extra fee. If you would like to share a room with Chinese student to give you more time to practise your Mandarin we can arrange this at no extra charge. View photos of the accommodation.
  • Lunch and dinner on weekdays at the Omeida canteen. Find out more about the meal options.
  • Mandarin lessons. You will receive 15 or 30 Mandarin lessons per week depending on whether you enrol in the standard or intensive option.
  • Textbook and learning materials
  • Free participation in weekly Thursday night social nights
  • After school activities such as volleyball, basketball and video nights
  • Extra tuition. We can arrange a language partner to meet with you 5:00-6:00, Times subject to change.
  • Orientation of Yangshuo. On arrival, you will be shown around town, such as the supermarket, West Street and where to buy a mobile phone sim card etc.
  • A map of Yangshuo
  • Visa assistance and invitation letter

Tuition only packages

You can also either opt to choose the tuition only package which includes everything in the inclusive package as mentioned above, except accommodation and meals are not included.

What you need to bring

  • A camera!
  • A towel
  • Clothes and toiletries
  • Spending money- the cost of living in China is considerably lower than most parts of the world

What’s not included in either of the packages?

  • Flights, visa and travel insurance. If you need us to provide authorized documents required for your long-term visa application (e.g. F visa, when visiting China for longer than 3 months), we charge a  USD100 per person visa processing fee. You will need to pay any necessary postage fees on your arrival. When using Express Mail and Standard Mail there are two options.
  • Transfers from Guilin Airport to Omeida Language School. We can arrange private transfers for you for 280RMB per car. Please let us know at least one week before your arrival.
  • Electricity. To encourage conservation, you will need to pay extra for the electricity that you use separately. The cost of this varies depending on how much you use the air conditioner, it is usually 50-150 RMB per month (approx US$8-23)
  • There is a small charge if you opt to participate on the Saturday sightseeing outing with other students and teachers. Activities include rafting, drifting, cycling, hiking, or trips to ancient villages and often includes lunch
