Comprehensive Chinese Course The Comprehensive Chinese course provides a comprehensive and systematic learning experience for students to improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The Comprehensive Chinese Courses have four terms in total. Each term has 360 hours of class time. Students can choose the level that is suitable for them depending on their Chinese proficiency.

Term Description:
The First Term Target Student: Beginners After this course, students will have a basic understanding of Chinese. This includes:
- Being familiar with the pinyin system
- Being able to carry on a basic conversation
- Being able to answer simple questions
- An introduction to Chinese pronunciation, tones, and rhythm
- Being familiar with at least 500 common characters
The Second Term Target Student: Those who have already completed the first term or someone with a basic understanding of Chinese Through this course, students will:
- Further grasp standard pronunciation and become more familiar with tones of pinyin
- Learn up to 1200 characters as well as be able to combine those characters into words
- Be able to carry on a basic conversation with a native speaker
- Be able to express ideas and describe situations
The Third Term Target Student: Graduate of the second term or students who can easily carry on basic conversations After studying at this level, students will:
- Grasp 1600 Chinese characters
- Be able to participate in more advanced-topic conversations
- Be able to express more complex ideas
- Speak at normal speed
- Express oneself in a clearer, more accurate, and appropriate way
- Be able to discuss general topics
- Carry on simple negotiations and business talks
- Be able to use complex sentences and grammar
The Fourth Term Target Student: Graduate of term three or students with highly advanced Chinese skills After this course, students will be able to:
- Recognize up to 2400 Chinese characters
- Fully understand and participate in everyday conversations
- Express themselves more fluently and in an organized way
- Speak with more accurate pronunciation and tone
- Carry on a fluent conversation
- Read and understand basic news in Chinese newspapers, on the radio and on TV
- Use your language skills to give a speech, write a formal letter, carry out business transactions, etc
