The Lantern Festival in 2011

The 15th ofthe first month of the Lunar Yearis a Chinese traditional festival, named theLantern Festival. On that day, in almost every family, the family members like to make and eat glutinous rice balls (Yuan Xiao) together. A variety of lanterns will be hung on the trees or under the eaves, turning the whole city into an ocean of colorful lanterns.

During the Lantern Festival in 2011, an activity of making and eating Yuan Xiao was hold in West Street. The students who study Chinese at Omeida Chinese Academy also took part in this special activity.

Many red lanterns hang on the trees, turning Yangshuo into a beautiful scene.

We are learning how to make Yuan Xiao under the direction of chefs. It's a lot of fun!

Don't worry! I am almost done.

Wow, the glutinuous rice balls (Yuan Xiao) are so delicious, especially the ones we made.

After eating Yuan Xiao, let's go to watch the colorful lanterns.
