Culture lesson-how to play Chinese Majong.
Tiles：There are four basic types of tiles.
Three are suits – 条, 万, and 饼. These suites include numbers 1-9.
The fourth type of tile has four different kinds of tiles.
One kind is the ‘four directions’ (东, 南, 西 & 北), The other three are 发财, 红中, and 白板.
(There is a fifth kind of tile called 花 to be used when counting points or gambling.)
Do you know what is this? This is Chinese Majong.
J unary 31st in 2003, we hold a culture lesson about how to play Majong. There are over 15 students from Chinese academy and English academy came to join us.
First, our teacher Kazu,who is a student comes from Japan, introduce the rules in playing Majong.
Setup
1. Four is the best number of people with which to play this game (one on each side of a square table), but three or two can also play.The first step of the game is to mix the tiles up (face down). This is called”洗牌（xipai）”.

3.Next you will ‘build the wall’ - 码牌（mapai）.
Four walls need to be set up, one on each of the four sides.Each wall has 2 layers of 17 tiles.

There are some rules need to learn, but actually it is very easy to understand.
Let’us start to play Majong!
Before throw out one of them, we need to think about that. So, which one should i throw away?
