Learning how to write character “德”
in Shang Dynasty 德 include 3 parts. the left one is a radical which means“road”, and also means a person’s behavior. The right part is the eye, above this eye there is a straight line. It means looking steadily forward. so altogether means: we should be a person of integrity.
inscription on ancient bronze objects, the meaning of this character is more complete, under the eye there is a heart, it also means. Besides the eyes, our hearts also need to keep honest and upright.
in small seal script, the upside of the right part becomes “直”.the behavior with a straight and upright heart is “德”.
