Peking Opera & Facial masks
Peking opera combines stylized acting with singing, dancing, musical dialogues, martial arts,
colorful facial make-up and fantastic costumes. Performers have two methods of makeup:
masks and facial painting.
Peking Opera facial mask is special make-up with national characteristics. As each historical
figure or a certain type of person has an approximate spectral type, just like singing and playing
music to the music, so it can also be called “types of facial make-up in operas.”
The cultural lesson in this week was focus on Peking Opera, which spread all over the world as
one of the most famous traditional culture. After a brief introduction, we played the game to
distinguish the different kinds of facial masks.
Different colors stands for different typical characters.Dimitri used red which stands for
bravery and loyalty in Peking Opera.
All the students showed great interests and they were concentrating on their facial masks.
Everyone did a good job.Show time~
All the students had a great gift for painting their own masks and there were some creative results.
