Cultural class-dining culture in China
As a country that pays great attention to courtesy, Chinese cuisine culture is deep rooted in China's history. Dining culture is always one of the most important parts in Chinese culture. For cultural class this week, we learned dining culture in China and culture of Chinese chopsticks.
Chinese people stress filial piety all the time. The practice of presenting the best or fine food first to the senior members of the family has been observed for countless generations. Respect first is the main subject in dining culture of China. Guests should not start to eat until the host says, 'Please enjoy yourself' or something like that, otherwise it suggests disrespect and causes displeasure.
On cultural class, we also learned a lot about Chinese chopsticks skills and had a chopsticks competition.
