Wednesday, June 14th 2011, Omeida Chinese Academy arranged a cooking course for the foreign students Hannah, David and Marleen , from 15:00 to around 19:00, they experienced the whole process of making Chinese food, which included buying the ingredients in the market, learning cooking and enjoying their dishes as a supper. A beautiful local girl, who is a professional chef, taught them cooking skills.
At first, our students chose the dishes they want to learn, as there were a variety of dishes available for the courses. After that, the chef led the students to the local market in the town to choose the ingredients. The second process was cooking, which was the most important process in our course. Students had to wear a white chef’s hat and apron, just like the professionals! In the coming 3hours, every student had made three typical Chinese dishes of ‘cold cucumber salad’, ’dumplings’ and ‘dragon eggplant’. During the class they were taught knife cutting techniques and how to mix the ingredients. Our students were allintoxicated with the cooking.
After they were able to enjoy their own dishes, ‘this is my first time I’m able to cook Chinese food properly!’ said the students, ’I enjoyed it very much, the course was great for foreigners.
