Chinese chess also called 象棋 (xiàngqí), is very popular throughout China. In fact, it is one of the oldest board games in the world. Xiangqi has remained in its present form for centuries. In ancient times, the Chinese chess was always enjoyed by both highbrows and lowbrows.
