Happy Spring Festival.

The making of paper-cuts is a popular folk art with a history of more than 2000 years in China. In the hands of an artisan, a piece of red or other colored paper can be turned into any of a wide variety of patterns with the help of a knife or a pair of scissors.

Many Westerners are fond of Chinese paper cuts, because they are pretty and exquisite oriental style. Indeed, Chinese paper cuts help viewers to feel the real daily life and a festive atmosphere.

Teacher Cherry shared the Chinese tradition of paper cutting for the New Year & weddings with us.

These customs have been changed a lot over the years, but for the Chinese all over the world, the Spring Festival is the most important day, and firecrackers and dumplings are the two most important things of this day.

During this day we were making dumplings together, we made vegetarian one and meat one, but which one you would prefer?

The first day of the first lunar month is the New Year in the Chinese lunar calendar. Among the traditional Chinese festivals, this is the most important and the most bustling. Since it occurs at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, people also call it the Spring Festival.

Setting off firecrackers is the favorite activity of children in the Spring Festival. According to legend, this could drive off evil spirits. The continuous sound of firecrackers can be heard everywhere, adding to the atmosphere of rejoicing and festivity.
