Chinese Valentine’s Day 20160805

In China we have a very famous expression: Hold your hand and grow old together with you,(chí) () (zhī) (shǒu)() (zhī) (xié) (lǎo)。Hope everybody can find your soul mate.

Shoes should not be a gift for your love either. This is because presenting shoes implies “packing off your love”. However, if you have your love return 1 yuan, the curse will be broken.

An umbrella should not be a gift for your love. This is because the Chinese for “umbrella” is 伞 (san), which sounds the same as 散 ('breaking up').

After a sad story has been told, our lovely students are going to help 牛niú 郎láng&织zhī 女nǚ making a special bridge let they guys can meet each other.

Qixi, according to Chinese lunar calender, every 7th July (in 2015, it is on 20th August) is called Qixi festival, or Double Seventh Festival, Magpie Festival. It is one of the most romantic festivals in China.

Last time we were talking about Chinese Valentine’s Day during our culture lessons. We talked about what we will do with BF or GF in this day. And we learned a love story called NiuLang & ZhiNv together which showed we guys why China has two Valentine’s Day.
