To prepare the Hotpot, we went to a Yangshuo local market where we could by what we need for Hotpot. Filip, a student is from Sweden who studies Chinese at Omeida Chinese Academy. He assisted us shopping and preparing. He bargained with the vendors in fractured Chinese. The vendors were very curious how a foreigner could speak so good Chinese (mandarin). Some stallholders are locals; they don’t speak mandarin so frequently. So they gave their thumbs-up to Filip. Actually, Filip did an excellent job. To learn a language, mother tongue or second language, you have to make it in the practical application. A Hotpot culture lesson started with the shopping.
