Spring Festival
Where to start? A lot things happened in late January and the beginning of February. Here are some highlights.

福 Fu means happiness and good fortune. In Chinese, 'upside down' 倒 and 'arriving' 到 are pronounced the same - dao. Many families paste this character upside down on their door to represent happiness and good fortune arriving.
Making couplets
It was a beautiful day in Yangshuo on the Eve of Chinese New Year. Chinese and foreign students went shopping together at the market to buy ingredients to make dumplings.
We spent the afternoon relaxing and playing Chinese games. Mahjong originated in China and is a popular game to play during Spring Festival.
Omeida Spring Festival dinner- students and staff shared a meal at a local restaurant before heading to the bars to celebrate the arrival of the new year.
On New Year’s Day fire crackers were being set off from the early hours of the morning. Red remnants were scattered throughout the town and reminded us that the year of the Horse had begun.
The lion dance is usually performed during the Chinese New Year and other Chinese traditional, cultural and religious festivals.
