Culture Class-Chinese Xiuqiu 绣(xiù)球(qiú)
It’s a legend that in Jingxi area, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the youths get together in the wild, singing and dancing. The girls pick off some wild flowers and make the flowers a ball shape by cirrus. And then throw it to the boys they like or love. Gradually, these balls become a symbolism of love——a love token.
Chinese Xiuqiu 绣球 is made of colorful embroidery( red, yellow, green). These kind of color have good implied meanings—— good luck, good fortune and auspicious. Then Chinese Xiuqiu also has been a mascot for a long time around China.
