“The perfect place for studying Chinese !”
2014-03-25 14:45:17Studying mandarin at Omeida Chinese Academy has without doubt been one of my best experiences so far!
I am currently studying a Masters degree in Chinese in Denmark and I spent one semester studying abroad at Omeida. I wanted to study in a Chinese invironment so I would have a better opportunity to improve my oral Chinese and make Chinese friends without speaking to much english and this is exactly what Omeida offered me.
In the big cities you often tend to hang around with people from the west causing you to speak english most of the time but through Omeidas arrangements and buddy program I got to know a lot of Chinese who could help me improve my Chinese and at the same time it was a big advantage that they could speak some english as well allowing me to ask them to translate the words I did not understand.
During these 4 months my Chinese language skills improved a lot and I actually regret not going there before when knowing that I spent 1,5 years studying mandarin in Denmark and instead I could just have spent 4 months in Omeida reaching the exact same level in Chinese. When studying I need it to be fun or else i can't motivate myself and the teachers at Omeida really managed to teach me Chinese while having fun. We went on tours mountainbiking around the extremely fascinating landscape of Yangshuo and in general I felt that I could just lean back and relax without a worry and trust them to give me a good experience while studying chinese language and culture.
They arranged everything for me when I arrived like an appartment, language partner, good and cheap places to eat, social events and just all the practical stuff that you don't want to worry about when in another country and culture. So all in all, the teachers are highly competent and professional while at the same time being really fun to spend time with in and after class.
I could go on for ages pointing out how nice this place is so I will just finish off saying that I would definitely recommend this school and Yangshuo is the most beautiful place in China (in my opinion) with a lot of outdoor activities so you never get bored even though you are planning on staying there for a week or 4 months! I will definitely go back as soon as I get the chance!
