The Tug of War of Omeida
Recently, there were a lot of activities at Omeida. Last week, a Tug of War was held on the ground in front of Omeida English College. All classes have formed their teams to participate the competition. We had teacher team, staff team and student team.
The Oxford English Dictionary says that the phrase "tug of war" originally meant "the decisive contest; the real struggle or tussle; a severe contest for supremacy". Only in the 19th century was it used as a term for an athletic contest between two teams who haul at the opposite ends of a rope. The sport is played almost in every country in the world. However, a small selection of countries has set up a national body to govern the sport. Most of these national bodies are associated then with the International governing body call TWIF which stands for The Tug of War International Federation.
We formed a team representing our Chinese Academy to take part in the competition. Sarah was our coach who was telling the strategy plan to our teammates. Except our participants, Zaim, Omi, Alice, Carmen, Rocky who is from English Academy and Twelve, we got a strong back supporting which has Cindy, Becky, Sarah, Ieva, Abby, Selina and a lot people from English Academy.
We started the Tug of War after a game ”Paper, scissors, rock”.
We made Zaim our team leader player who is learning Taichi in Yangshuo after school.
Superman Shawn has come to the “WAR”.
And finally, the superman’ s team won the competition.
