This Friday is the last day of the year 2016. Traditionally, we call it Chinese Spring Festival Eve. In order to create an unforgettable memory for our students, we planned to go shopping in the local market for the arriving Chinese New Year.
过年了guò nián le. How do you celebrate Chinese Spring Festival? Let’s see what do Omeidians do. Students from Omeida Chinese Academy and English School were grouped into small groups. So that our students could learn how Chinese prepare and purchase for their coming New Year. Also the students from English School could practice their English with their new friends.
Everyone is so excited and could not wait to go.
Have a look at the shopping list to make sure nothing will be forgotten.
Olivia is buying ingredients for making dumplings with her partner and she used her pidgin Chinese language to ask and bargain with a stall owner.
We must pick the fresh mushroom. Look, how serious they are! Shop the best stuff with a good price.
Some went to shop ingredients for next day’s dumpling making. The others went for snacks, fruits and decorations. After hours working, people came back to school gradually for a break. Everybody shared the fun things when they were shopping.
Hard work continues, we decorated our doors, windows and the trees around our school to create a alive vibe of New Year. Spring red couplets, paper-cuts and lanterns surround us. 过年了guò nián le. Happy Chinese New Year!
The long day ends up with a rich Eve Dinner which was offered by our School. Foreigners have a real Chinese New Year with their Chinese friends. Omeidians’ reunion till now makes a first stop.
